    Making a Financial Donation

    To make a financial donation to an organization providing services to homeless persons in the Tri-Cities, select from one or more of the following:

    Hope For Freedom Society
    Soroptimist International of the Tri-Cities
    Trinity United Church

    Hope For Freedom Society

    How Donated Funds Will Be Used:
    Donated funds will be used to support the following programs operated by the Hope For Freedom Society:
    • Cold Wet Weather Mat Program;
    • Homeless Outreach Worker teams;
    • Homeless Resource Centre.
    In addition, the Hope For Freedom Society will accept and hold funds in trust for the permanent emergency shelter and transition housing facility to be built at 3030 Gordon Ave. in Coquitlam.

    How To Donate:
    Visit the Hope For Freedom website http://www.hopeforfreedom.org/, select the “Assist Us” page and click on the “Donate now through CanadaHelps.org” icon.  Be sure to indicate how you would like your donation to be used.  Tax receipts will be issued at the end of the calendar year.

    Tri-Cities Soroptimists

    How Donated Funds Will Be Used:

    The Tri-Cities Soroptimists welcome donations to assist women in need in the Tri-Cities.  Donations and event proceeds are used to help homeless women and women in need in a variety of ways:

    • Warm Place for Women – a monthly social evening for women in need and their children, including a meal, free clothing, personal care items and resource information;
    • Support for homeless refugee women and their families coming to the TriCities;
    • Support for TriCities transition houses and recovery houses;
    • Scholarships for women who have overcome difficult life circumstances and have returned to school.

    How To Donate:
    The Soroptimists gladly accept financial donations, new or very gently-used clothing, hygiene products and corporate sponsorship of food or financial aid.
    As well, they are always grateful for silent auction donations to their key fundraiser - the upcoming 9th Annual Women’s Recognition Awards Luncheon (February 22nd, 2009 – featuring emcee Karen Daniels of JRFM, and youth troupe TCO2).

    Trinity United Church

    How Donated Funds Will Be Used:
    All donations will be used exclusively for the homeless, such as for food, bedding, and clothing.  Various services to the homeless are provided out of the church through the support of Trinity United Church, St. Catherine’s Anglican Church, SHARE Family & Community Services Society, and people from the community.  These programs include a food bank, the Extreme Weather Response shelter, support for the Cold Wet Weather Mat Program, a soup kitchen, a thrift shop and other services.

    How To Donate:
    Financial donations may be made to Trinity United Church.  An income tax receipt for the charitable donation will be provided.  Donations can be mailed or delivered to the church, located at the corner of Prairie Ave. and Shaughnessy St. in Port Coquitlam.  The donation must specify that it is for the Homeless.
